Tour du Rwanda: Algerian Azzedine wins stage one

Algerian Azzedine Lagab has won stage one of 2018 International Cycling Competition, Tour du Rwanda at a distance of 97.5 kilometer stage in Rwamagana District.

Azzedine used 2 hours 12 minutes and 21 seconds and won the stage with 12 seconds ahead of Rwandan, Valens Ndayisenga who gained the fifth place.

The competition has attracted 79 players from across the World. In Rwamagana, the players toured Rwamagana city 15 laps.

At the beginning, Rwandan players had showcased themselves, but, at 13th lap, a group including Azzedine attacked and dominated them.

Rwandan players were led by Valens Ndayisenga playing for Pays Olonne Cycliste Côte de Lumière (POCCL) in France and René Jean Paul Ukiniwabo for Rubavu based Les Amis Sportifs.

Other Rwandans in top ten are Moïse Mugisha, 7th; Janvier Rugamba, 8th.

The 32-year-old Azzedine plays for Groupement Sportif des Pétroliers d’Algérie, it is the 4th time he participates in Tour du Rwanda.

Taking place at its 10th edition, the competition which started yesterday will round up on August 12th. It attracted 16 teams and players will go around the country on the distance of 946.6 kilometers.

Monday (Today), players depart from Kicukiro to Huye District in Southern Province on the distance of 120.5 kilometers.
